The Social Media Customer – Infographic

Here is an interesting infographic looking at the results and conclusions from of a survey of 2,000 adults in the UK into their behaviour and attitudes towards social media customer service.

According to the data, 65% of surveyed consumers think social media is better than call centers for customer service. And 40% believe social media improves customer service.

The interviews with senior executives in customer services, marketing and PR identified also some common themes:

– Where call centers arguably erect barriers between brands and customers, social media can remove them and bring proximity.

– Don’t let social media define you, your brand must define it. It must be a continuation of a brand using the appropriate channels and not a knee-jerk reaction to following how others are using it.

– Consumer data offers insight into behaviour, but social media takes that to a different level, enabling brands to tap into emotions.
