Meet STAY WYSE at the Hostelworld Conference 125x125STAY WYSE is pleased to announce that we will be attending the 2013 Conference, to take place this week in Dublin, Ireland. The event will take place from the 2oth to the 22nd of February.

The conference will once again be rewarding the top hostels in the world on Thursday evening in its 11th Hostel Awards ceremony, attended by over 400 hostel owners. The awards are given out on the basis of customer reviews left after staying at a hostel.

Due to its huge success in recent years, the 2013 Conference will add a full day of events to the programme, with more speakers and more time to network. Although the formal events begin on Thursday 21st of February, welcome drinks at the Gravity bar in the iconic Guinness storehouse, where the first Guinness was produced 250 years ago, will kick off the social side of the event on Wednesday night.

On Thursday, Feargal Mooney, CEO of, will kick off the first day of the conference with a keynote speech outlining Hostelworld’s achievements of 2012, but also revealing some exciting plans for 2013. Following the keynote speech, an expert on branding will provide an extensive presentation about the concept of branding and features that encourage brand loyalty and tackles the challenges of today’s markets. The topic of brands is developed further in a panel discussion in which representatives from some of the world’s leading hostels of the likes of Generator, Wombats and USA Hostels share their insights.

After an opportunity to meet Hostelworld representatives, Scott Seaborn, Executive Director at XS2, ventures into the world of mobile technology, daring to give a vision towards the year 2020. Following a brief coffee break at 15:00, Hostelworld offers the choice between two sessions: “Hostel Hot Topics”, where the audience will be able to influence the issues discussed, and “Hostelworld goes Mobile”, with Head of Product Breffni Horgan.

The long-awaited annual Hostel Awards will take place at 19:30 at the Dublin Convention Centre after a networking opportunity over drinks. Also known as the Hoscars, the awards will go to the best hostels in various categories: rating criteria, such as cleanliness, safety, staff and location, but also for the best small hostels, best hostel chains, and the best hostels in each continent and country.

Friday will see several sessions on how to improve business performance making use of technology. Krishna De, a digital marketing and social media expert, will reveal secrets to enhance online marketing in 2013. Later, 3 of the world’s most prolific bloggers will discuss their experiences in the hostel world and give advice on how to write an effective hostel blog.

David Bryon, who formerly ran BMI Baby, one of the biggest low-cost airlines in the United Kingdom, will focus on customer service when talking about the challenges of running a business, with lessons from his former business.
