Message from Hosteworld to the hostel community

Dear Hostel,

As you are aware, we are currently in the process of rolling out our re-written terms and conditions. While we have received acceptance from a significant majority of properties in most destinations, with hindsight we now appreciate that we could have handled the timing better, and that some of you may need more time to fully consider the new contract. We therefore want to confirm that we are happy to remove the deadlines for acceptance, while our intention is to continue working with each of you individually to transition to the revised terms.

In our view, this is an industry standard agreement, with the primary objective of enabling us to grow the budget accommodation sector together in an increasingly competitive environment. We have been taken somewhat by surprise at the commentary amongst some forums in relation to our revised T&Cs as we felt they were a reasonably straightforward update to reflect what is already standard practice across many OTAs, and indeed what is already current operational practice. Our existing T&Cs, whilst they underwent some minor revision in 2010, are actually over 10 years old and do not reflect the significant advances in travel, technology and digital marketing over the last decade.
